WTN: Wellington Cab '04

I'd been over by Glen Ellen in 2009 and picked up half a dozen of Wellington's Sonoma County cab on sale for $12 each. It turned out to be a very good deal!
I opened my last bottle for this weekend. With spaghetti and meat sauce last night, it was very pleasant but not wonderful. Clearly mature, but still full of dark fruit and fully dark velvet in color. Not a whole lot of nose. This evening, with a dry-aged New York steak from Willowside Meats (darn! I let the secret out), it came into its own. Smooth entry, ripe but not gushy mid-palate, and a medium, pleasant, balanced finish. My kind of wine and my kind of price! 13.9% alcohol.
