2002 Rubicon?

by Sam Platt » Wed Dec 06, 2006 11:05 pm

My lovely wife just gave me a bottle of the 2002 Rubicon as a birthday present. It seems to have gotten excellent scores of between 92 and 95 from the various rating sites, but the drinking window detail is not very helpful. "Drink between now and 2025" is not useful guidance. I'm thinking that I should set it aside until at least 2012. Any experience with, or thoughts on the '02 Rubicon would be appreciated.

Thanks David. That's about what I thought. I'll just peak at it periodically until 2012+. Do you think there's any chance that those magic wine agers actually do work?

I agree with the recs above. I would note that I opened this baby of a wine for a special event, and even undecanted and young, it was an utterly lovely wine as the evening wore on. So...if you absolutely can't wait, you will still enjoy it. (I have a second bottle I am holding onto, though :))

Thanks Brian. That's a good data point. I will see how my patience holds out.
