by TomHill » Mon Apr 15, 2013 10:47 am

Tried these two last night at dinner:
1. RobertSinskeyVnyds Abraxas Vin de Terroir ScintillaSonomaVnyd/LosCarneros (41% Riesling/28% PinotGris/23% PinotBlanc/8% GWT; 13.1%) 2011: Pale yellow color; quite fragrant floral/pineapple/pear some slatey/steely/mineral very attractive nose; rather dry/austere quite tart some floral/pineapple/R some steely/metallic/slatey rather Mosel-like flavor; long steely/metallic/slatey very tart/lean/austere some pear/pineapple/floral/R finish; a very good Calif rendition of a Mosel trocken Kabinett but pretty pricey for what it is. $39.00 (AV)
______________
2. LesDamesHuguettes AC: Boutgogne HautesCotes de Nuits GrandVin (12.5%) Mongeard-Mugneret/VineyardBrands 2010: Rather light color; quite pretty floral/violets/cherry/PN light earthy spicy almost Calif/Siduri-like light toasty/oak nose; slight bretty/unclean bright/floral/violets some earthy light toasty/oak light/pretty flavor w/ light tannins; long bright/cherry/violets/floral/PN slight earthy bit bretty/unclean/funky light toasty/oak finish w/ light tannins; a bit of brett but not objectionable; quite a pretty PN in a Calif style. $29.00 (AV)

It had some verbiage on the side about Abraxas being 365 days of pleasure or pain or something. Don't recall.
Should be Bourgogne, of course. Fat fingers.
