Which Oregon Pinot Noir to open this month?

Jenise, I know you have experience with Shea Vineyard. I didn't buy as many 2008 Oregon Pinot Noirs as I should have, but I would like to open one for the Pinot Noir focus this month. I have a 2008 Shea Wine Cellars Estate Pinot Noir and the basic 2008 Adelsheim, Willamette Valley, and some from Ken Wright. I also have a Scott Paul "La Paulee" from the Willamette Valley from the 2008 vintage, and a Loring Wine Company Shea Vineyard PN. What is your take on when the Shea Vineyard Pinots show at their best? I also have 2005 and 2007 Domaine Serene Evenstad Pinots and may open one of them but want to get to one or two Burgundies so the month may run out before I open a second Oregon Pinot.

JC,

I would opt for the Loring at least. Those wines are always so open.

2007 is a weak vintage in my experience, so that's another possible direction. Drink up.

My vote would be the Adelsheim - their WV Pinot is always so approachable.

I've decided to open a 2010 Scott Paul "La Paulee." I've been on the mailing list for a couple years without yet trying the wines. I may get to the Adelsheim before the end of the month but will start tonight with a Savigny Les Beaune.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the Scott Paul. The 2010s are awesome although some might be starting to close down.

I think many of the 2008s are locking down hard. But the Loring and Adelsheim WV would be your best bets.

I think 2007 is a lovely vintage but from what I know about Domain Serene, it would not be to their liking. Probably want to drink soon.

Cheers,

Jason

Thanks. I opened a 2008 Scott Paul and will post on it soon. I may get to the Adelsheim as well or the 2007 Domaine Serene.
