WTN: NV Moussé Fils Brut BdN Cuvée Noire Réserve

by Andrew Bair » Mon May 20, 2013 6:58 pm

Moussé Fils is the most recent edition to Terry Theise's Champagne portfolio, so I thought that I would give one of them a try. These are mostly Meunier-based Champagnes from the Vallée de la Marne. The BdN Cuvée Noire Réserve is worth a try if you other Meunier-based Chmapagnes like those of Egly-Ouriet and Serveaux Fils.

NV Moussé Fils Brut Blanc de Noirs Cuvée Noire Réserve
85% Pinot Meunier and 15% Pinot Noir; disgorged 12/06/2012. Good initial mousse (sorry), and small bubbles. Floral/smoky/bready/cherry nose. Medium-bodied, crisp, slightly off-dry, nicely balanced, sleeker, with good acidity and focus. Lightly mineral; tastes of blackberries, citrus fruit, pumpernickel and white bread; and honey and spices. Not an earthy rendition of Meunier. Very good+.

Thanks!

I've had the basic NV and the rosé, but not had the chance to try the Reserve. Both Laura and I love Champagnes with significant amounts of Pinot Meunier.
