2 Burgs, 2 Results

Last week I opened my one bottle of '06 Cht de la Maltroye Chassagne-Montrachet La Boudriotte (1st Cru). After a 2 hour decant It struggles over 2 days and never seemed to "get there". Enjoyable more like a decent Bourgogne, briefly showing signs of royalty. I've had other vintages from this producer that were on point. Don't know if this is "shut down" or just a weaker vintage. Tonight I decanted a '10 Faiveley Mercurey and was presented with an honest Bourgogne, all be it a little on the lighter side, but still very "Burgundian" and enjoyable with a "take-out" of chicken ka-bob with a salad and white beans and rice. Would buy again, and already own a case.
