WTN: '11 Knapp Finger Lakes Chardonnay

by Carl Eppig » Sat Aug 03, 2013 2:24 pm

2011 Knapp Finger Lakes Chardonnay ($11.95 U.S., Alcohol level: 13%). This is their unoaked version; the Reserve for $2 more is aged in oak. This one is a very refreshing wine year after year. It gives light citrus notes on the nose and upfront; with nice complexity in the middle; and a pleasant finish. We enjoyed it with sautéed flounder fillets; with freshly picked Frenchie green beans from the garden; along with our lettuce and cherry tomatoes, and "bought" purple onion and cucumber in salad. A great Friday night.

Perhaps, twenty years ago, we visited the region and came home with this wine. They did not last long but now, I wish i'd have saved a bottle or two just so I could chime in with a data point.
Sure did enjoy them, though.
Best, Jim
