Donkey and Goat Merlot

by Brian K Miller » Tue Aug 20, 2013 4:28 pm

2011 Anderson Valley Merlot. 12.6% abv.

Delicious high-funky hipster wine. Bold cherries and red plum skin fruit with refreshing acidity and FUNK! Awesome stuff. Sadly, a friend who is my usual "drinking partner in crime" does not like Donkey and Goat. Left more of the bottle for me and his wife, though.

Don't see much Merlot coming out of Anderson Valley. In that neighborhood, Yorkville Highlands makes most of the Merlot, Cabs etc.

Note the sub-13% alcohol levels!

Probably not considered warm enough for Merlot! I find this wine slurpable.
