Restaurants in Alsace

by Ken Schechet » Mon Aug 26, 2013 10:43 pm

I'm finally going to spend a few days in the Alsace region of France. I've long admired their wines. Does anyone have any "must do" restaurants in that region? They don't need to be 5 star affairs, just typical of the region. A good cafe or small restaurant would be great. We'll be in Strasbourg and Colmar for sure, and who knows where else. Thanks in advance.

Restaurant Umami, in Strasbourg. Several people have recommended this one, and it is the first place we want to go when we get there.

I have been researching an upcoming trip to those exact two cities, so I look forward to the responses. I can't vouch for any of these personally, but they have been recommended by Rick Steves, other food/wine boards, or the "gite" where we'll be staying.
Strasbourg: Restaurant Au Pont du Corbeau, 21 Quai Saint-Nicolas. Local, organic, good wine list.
Colmar: JY's, 17 Rue de la Poissonnerie. Michelin *, modern.
Sorbetieee d'Isabelle La for ice cream.
