NYTimes: Asimov on Bierzo

Interesting article in today's NYTimes by Eric on Bierzo:
NYTimes:Bierzo

in which he mostly talks about balance in wines. Nothing profound...but interesting to hear his take.

Thanks for posting another good article by Asimov. I "discovered" the original flavours of Bierzo a few years ago in the form of Petalos whose more recent vintages I find too oaky. Raul Perez is much better and his entry level cuvée Ultreia St.Jacques is delicious and costs <€10 if one can get a bottle.

I am impatient to try Ribeira Sacra which Asimov seems to think more reliable.

Hi Tim. RP does not appear to be available here, must pressure the folks downtown to get with it! Prices will not be cheap here eh.

Tim,
If you can find the wines of D. Ventura there, please do give them a try. Ribeira Sacra is a far more reliable source of unoaked Mencia than is Bierzo, and their Godello is also quite fine.
