WTN: 1998 Grand Puy Lacoste

by Jenise » Fri Oct 18, 2013 6:10 pm

Opened a bottle last night wanting to compare it with another bottle opened about three months ago that I found a bit wan. Decanted for an hour and a half, served with a vegetarian dinner of baked potato and arugula salad. This was a better bottle than the last but still slightly disappointing and a notch or two lesser than the perfect bottles we opened (all from the same source) about two-three years ago. Very enjoyable, with tobacco a prominent feature at the moment along with some cedar and slightly faded fruit. Unless this wine is napping with one eye open, it has crested the peak.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Hopefully an "off bottle", but time will tell. I have 1 ea. of the '95 and '96 and will open one soon. Any idea which one?
