KWFE MIAMI Dec 18!!

by Elchonon Hellinger » Mon Sep 30, 2013 2:44 am

Dreams do come true it seems. I was informed that there would be a miami KWFE and saw it on a public area so i'm assuming its ok to post this.

Ever since dave, elie, gab etc got me in to wine, ive always been crying like a spoiled brat that Miami has no tastings. I did 2 tastings myself which I thought were a success for the general public but did not give the greatness of what kosher wine has grown too... and myself and others im sure have been craving this.

So Dec 18 Royal roles out their FIRST EVER KWFE miami... and im hyped.. this is great for us locals and for those that want to escape the Northern cold.

Also, as I dont spit, i'll be able to cool it with the tasting's, i'll settle for 25 instead of a ridiculous 55 at kwfe ny 2012 and then i can do another 25 at kwfe ny 2013 and enjoy the more leisure pace.

If this pre-dates NY event, I wonder if they will show newer wines or the wines shown at NY last year ? all in all i'm a happy camper and would love to be joined by you guys!

Elk, I think that you should be proud of yourself as I believe this KWFE - Miami would have not happened had you not pushed for it, including with the wine event you organized last May. Well-done! :D

GG,
I had no direct hand in this event other than my usual harassing and hounding people not to forget us in Miami. The last 2 years have evolved more, 2 tastings and a 3rd in 2 weeks and now KWFE. You know people are starting to see wine as a vast array of styles, tastes and budgets and thats what ive been crying about.

Josh, thats awesome and I think its deff worth it. it was FREEEZING in ny for KWFE and I enjoyed it but warm weather and less crowded and you have a winner here.

Also guys remember, miami (florida) sells wine in grocery stores, you dont have the kosher wine shop style. You can go to most kosher supermarkets here and no one there knows any thing about wine

Any discounts available for the tickets? It seems like this is a charitable event, but the exact parameters are a bit unclear.

The target was 700. Im not sure if they will reach that, even at 130$ the price is high, i'd like to see at 100$ with coupon code as KFWE NY is.

However, the upside is that it will be less crowded.

Enjoyed the event last night, and I think the response was good enough that this should be held again in the Miami area. Space was a little tight in the food service area, but accessing the wines was easy, and I was able to taste everything I wanted to get to.

Surprises of the night from an enjoyment perspective were the Bazelet Hagolan Petite Sirah, the 1848 Special Reserve CS 2006, and the Rollan De By. All exceeded expectations.

Hey Gaston, I missed the Bazelet PS, the Rollan de By was a total pass (hollow and empty - mostly tannin and oak), the 1848 is a total pass for me - very sweet. There were many nice wines, including the 2005 Poyferre and 2005 Malartic. The champagne did not show well yesterday, no idea why. The 2010 Castel GV was also lovely.

Gaston - the wine you think was from Bazelet Hagolan was actually from Montefiore Winery, they are the one with the Petite Sirah, which was OK, not overly complex and more sweet than I like.
