Any thoughts welcome!

`04 Rabl GV, Spiegel Austria.
`05 Terras Gauda Rias Baixas O Rosal.
`04 Maria Bodegas Alonso del Yerro.
`05 White Lirac Dom de la Mordoree.

The albarinho could be a winner!

I know there are no stupid questions here, but this might be a first. Which one is the Albarinho?

The one from Portugal, probably. But I'm as mystified as you are.

It will be the Rias Baixas.

Then it would have been Alvarinho!

But, in your defence, Bob also spelled Albarino wrong.

Thanks Joe, was in a rush and took a chance. Anything new on the shelf out your way...Monte Real?!!!

BTW I forgot to mention a terrific tawny from Seppelt, Aust. The DP 90 Rare Tawny, has to be one of the best port like wines I have tasted from here but about $60 Cdn.

Monte Real are always welcome, there's a few new ones popping up.

The Seppelt fortified range is available up there? That's rather remarkable. I didn't know you could get them outside of Oz.

You can't get the Seppelt Show Sparkling Shiraz, can you?

Sorry to correct you, Bob, but Terras Gauda is not an albariño, but a blend of albariño, loureiro and caíño branco - the classic blend from the O Rosal sector of Rías Baixas, right on the banks of the Miño river which is the natural border between Spain and Portugal in that area. Nice wine if you like a fuller, more powerful´expression of Rías Baixas.

Alonso del Yerro María 2004 is one of the very best, most terroir-driven of the new-generation Ribera del Duero wines, made by Bordeaux winemaker Stéphane Derenoncourt (a noted 'terroirist'). But it's absolutely raw right now and demands a couple of years' cellaring - at least.
