Tried this last night w/ dinner:
1. Dom.des Huards Cour-Cheverny WW LoireVlly (100% Romorantin; 12%; www.JonDavidWine.com) MichelGendrier 2010: Med.light gold color; rather stony/chalky/mineral slight overripe apples low fruit pleasant nose; very tart/lean/austere quite stony/chalky/mineral/metallic/steely tangy/grapefruit/citrus little fruit flavor; long very tart/austere/tangy/grapefruity mineral/chalky quite metallic/steely/tangy finish; not much fruit and a very mineral/chalky terroir-driven wine; the AFWE would love this wine. $17.00 (AV)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Romorantin is a grape that supposedly originated in Burgundy as a PinotTeinturier X GouaisBlanc. It used to be widely planted in the Loire but is now down to 180 acres, only in the commune of Cour-Cheverny.
This was an interesting label in that it didn't havean AOC or IGP identifier on the label. The importer, JonDavid, used to work w/ TerryTheise.
I don't see that Romorantin is ever going to set the world on fire. Calif could undoubtedly make the world's greatest Romorantin if they tried it. Barrel frment/barrel-aged/full malolactic/15% alcohol...yum.
