2007 Alain Hudelot-Noellat Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru...

1er Cru "Les Charmes." 13.5% abv. Cork nearly broke into two parts but I was able to extract it without it crumbling. Dilute Burgundy color; semi-opaque. Tart cherries and a little sous bois play off each other. Appealing but not exceptional. Not a frog but not a prince either--more like a competent court attendant. Not as feminine and less finesse than some Chambolle-Musigny wines, perhaps due to the vintage. I would gladly drink this again but would balk at paying as much as this bottle cost.

I am a big fan of the H-N wines, but the costs are now too high. I stopped after 2006. I might buy some more on closeout or at other reduced pricing.

Their Grand Cru wines are lovely examples, but ruinously expensive.
