The Gravy Boat (hilarious)

by Jenise » Sat Feb 15, 2014 11:42 am

This Gawker article is so funny that I can't remember the last time I read anything this funny. It's a 24 year old journalist's ascerbic and wisely-observed account of a just-completed week on a celebrity cruise with Paula Deen and about 140 friends, family and fans of the fallen 'culinary goddess'. It's novella length but, believe me, your time will be greatly rewarded.

Oh my god, that was the greatest article I've read all year!

Thank god someone else read it. My DH said he can't remember the last time he heard me laugh like that, or if ever. Especially when I got to the picture of her bent over--it was such a great build-up, that I really lost it there. Wish I could write like that!

Me too!

Although you and I had different reactions to that picture. I've posted it on my fridge to help me with my diet.

Great read, thanks.

They should market T shirts with 'Grill Sargeant' on them!

Granted!

Type "grill sergeant t-shirt" into Google Images.

Thanks for that, Jenise - it was a very good read.

It brings to mind David Foster Wallace's classic "A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again", although Mr. Wallace was at least fortunate enough to avoid a Paula Deen cruise.
