This is how bad I am--made me think of Paula Jones' description of Clinton's wanger. It went left, too.

Nope nope nope! It came from a Whole Foods Market in Vancouver--curiously close to Bill Spohn's house, not that I'm suggesting anything.

Yes, it's called a 'long beet'. First I'd ever seen.

Interesting! Is it otherwise similar to a standard beet? (Greens at one end, red, with a skin that comes off when you roast it, etc.)

That would make one heck of a pickled beet and goat cheese stacked salad appetizer!

Yes, exactly.

And what Joe said. Loved that they make all these perfectly uniform round slices, none bigger than a 50 cent piece--or tooney, to Joe :)

Heaven only knows what you'd get up to with a Japanese eggplant......

Yeah, Whole Paycheque comes up with some interesting stuff from time to time. Too early in the year to be local - wondr if anyone grows them around here. Slice them up, bake them and use them for poker chips? I'll keep an eye out for them and give them a whirl.

Bill, wasn't a super recent purchase, but I picked them up maybe two months ago. God knows where they came from--don't remember a sign indicating origins.
