Wines for Independence Day/ Canada Day

by James Roscoe » Sun Jun 29, 2014 10:36 am

It's a big picnic and outdoor eating week here in North America and the weather looks pretty spectacular for the eastern half of the continent! What are we planning for our national festivities. (Feel free to look ahead to Bastille Day if you wish!) We generally go the fried chicken route so it will likely be pink and French in honor of Lafayette!(unless I can get some Bone-Jolly!) Happy Canada Day and Happy Independence Day to all!
Yes, and how many deaths will it take 'til he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

I'm not sure what I will be opening on July 4th. However, we are having a celebration after church on July 6th (hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill and many side dishes--I am taking a salad of marinated veggies such as shoepeg corn, french-cut green beans, diced bell pepper, etc.). I will also take two or three bottles of wine including probably my remaining bottle of 2007 Joseph Swan Mancini Ranch Zinfandel and maybe a California Pinot Noir or a Cotes du Rhone.
