Seriously???!! Oh geesh..I don't know why that happened, Doug! My anti-virus didn't have any trouble with it, and there doesn't seem to be any creepy crawlies attached. Thanks for the heads up, I'll forward this to the web designer.

I still think it is safe to go there. Wonder if you type in the browser instead of clicking the link here? (Spoken as the ludite that I am).

Doug,
This is from the webpage designer (with permission to copy here):

Julia, no idea. This is mocool.org we're talking about, correct? I use Avast anti-virus and haven't gotten any warnings. Ditto for Web of Trust in my browser.

Everything on the site is off-the-shelf software that's been vetted by Joomla, and lightly customized by me. So it's doubtful that's the problem. I just took another look through the back end files, and nothing jumped out as suspicious or obviously inserted by hackers. But I'll download a whole site backup archive and scan it more thoroughly with a couple of different programs -- that's a lot more thorough than my eyeballing a few directories.

Meantime, here's the absolute best bet: contact the person using McAfee (who's likely a paying subscriber). There's probably a link in the warning message or elsewhere in the McAfee software going to the McAfee site where it generated the warning. They need to look up or contact McAfee to ask for more details on what caused it to pop up. Without that, a general "Watch out!" isn't of much use. For example, it could even be another site at the same shared IP address that was compromised.

I am using Windows Defender at home. Tried the site with IE 10, Firefox 30, and Chrome 35, didn't receive any warnings at all.

Fired up the work PC, used the same 3 browsers but with Vipre AV....no problems.
Cheers!

Well, this looks like a rather useless message from McAfee as it doesn't provide any more information than what I forwarded. It does also popup when visiting the sign-up page. However, I get no other warnings/messages so I'm ignoring it.

No complaints from Google Chrome, which is usually pretty quick to flag suspicious sites.

Doug,

Like Julia said we hope this means that you will be attending Mo'Cool. I just learned today that Jon Peterson has signed up for his first visit. A good time is guaranteed.

I'm looking into coming this year. I've always wanted to attend, but it conflicts with a yearly August horse show. My daughter will not be taking her horse this year, and if she goes, will either be riding client horses or assisting clients riding their own. I just need to make sure the dogs will be taken care of.

Well, Bob and Julia. You get your wish. I've signed up and ordered the t-shirt. See you there!

Hmm, after paying through Paypal I didn't get returned to the McCOOL pages. Should I have been and gotten a confirmation?

Hi Julia,

I am a long time participant over in the Israeli and Kosher Wine Forum. I also happen to make wine (over 20 years as a hired gun) and finally started to make my own, here in Israel.

I can't possibly make it to MoCool this year, but given this note on the "Details" page of the website -
But we're also looking for worthy samples of these same grape combos from the far corners of the earth -- wines to wallop the taste buds that no one else in attendance has ever tasted.

I thought I might donate a bottle of my wine from Israel? I only make one wine, for now, and it's a "Bordeaux +" of 59% Cab Sauv, 37% Merlot, and 4 Petite Sirah. Whom might I contact and send a bottle to?

Thanks, just one thing. If I get this done, please send me some comments or tasting notes!
Life is too short to drink bad wine.

Wow, Lewis! How generous of you! That would certainly be a treat for the MoCool gang. As far as shipping goes, I could accept the wine, but I would be concerned about it arriving in good condition due to our extremely high temperatures now. What are your thoughts on that?

I do hope that you will be able to attend MoCool '15, as you certainly do have the MoCool spirit: sharing your passion for great wine with those who appreciate them! Looking forward to meeting you there!

I will PM my mailing address to you.

Thank you so much for the offer!

I'm looking at some high-end Bordeaux & Cal. Cab. blends, and maybe some nice Champagne and Rhone reds for the Fri. night get-together. Of course this may change as we near the BIG event.
