New Year's wine wishes

by Paul B. » Mon Jan 01, 2007 12:16 pm

As we enter into 2007, I would like to wish all the good folks in our online wine loving community much health, happiness and many great wine moments throughout this year. May it be a year of new discoveries, rediscoveries of past vinous treasures; of great weather and ideal harvests; of fine fellowship and many toasts to new friendships.

And, speaking of friendship, here is a little ditty that I did up a minute ago ... with apologies (but also a toast) to the author of the original Irish friendship poem:

May there always be wine for your stemware to hold;
May your white wines be cool and never too cold;
May your reds be firm, earthy and ripe;
May you think for yourselves and bypass the hype;
May the hand of a friend always be near you;
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

Happy 2007!!

Paul,
Hope you have a great New Year. I also hope you find all of those "obscure" varietals you enjoy. I know I have had a few in my cellar from my brother Tom on their way to you via Ohio so that Tom could bring his "quota" to MoCool.

Paul, what a great piece of rhyme, and such beautiful thoughts. Wishing you and all of yours a great year in 2007, and may all wines you consume be 100 pointers.
