What wine would you serve?

The Wall Street Journal has an interesting and hopeful story this morning -- a DIY divorce for billionaires.

"Tim and Edra Blixseth spent 25 years building a $2 billion life together.

When they decided to divorce, they spent a single afternoon in the Beverly Hills Hotel, dividing it all up. With just two notebooks and a bottle of wine, the Blixseths -- California real-estate tycoons and founders of the famed Yellowstone Club -- finished the job in a matter of hours.

No attorneys. No accountants. No judges.

As a wine lover, I'm interested in what wine they chose for this important life passage.

As a lawyer, I applaud their maturity and good sense. Would that more people in our society would resolve their differences in such an admirable way.

Perhaps a Washington wine named Dead Reckoning. Though a nautical vs. matrimonial term, it would carry a good sense of purpose about figuring out exactly where you are so you can get where you're going without mishap.

A "split" of Champagne, perhaps?

There's a NZ wine brand, Main Divide. That could have been appropriate.

I can almost guarantee you it wasn't a bottle of The Ball Buster or Fat Bastard.

If I were a billionaire splitting up my fortune while sipping a glass, I'd prefer that it be poured from a bottle of 1982 Krug Clos du Mesnil.
