WTN: Strub in a holding pattern

Three years ago I wrote the following: This is continuing to age and develop in a positive way (under screw cap by the way). Where it was once just all boisterous, tropical fruit, it has focused on a rich, peachy tone, supplemented by vanilla and cinnamon spice.

I could have repeated that note word for word, and it would have been correct. This is drinking very well, and seems to be holding in place - and it's a good place. Three cheers for the consistency of screw caps!

Does TT still represent Strub? I used to see fairly regularly, but never seems to be in shops I frequent last decade or so.

Yes. Strub is still with Theise. As a matter of fact, Strub is the in-country consolidator for the Theise wines from the Rhine regions. Selbach handles the Mosel.

I do not see them as often anymore either. Not sure why.

Out of curiosity I searched for Strub in NY. About listings of the Soil to Soul QbA, mostly stores I don't frequent (but Sherry-L and Pops). Only a couple listings for Spatlese/Kab, plus Flatiron has Oelberg dry wine. Couple of older Eiswein. Pretty limited compared to other Theise producers.

Same here on the other side of the Hudson: my gut feeling is Strub is much harder to find than it was several years ago. Maybe wider distribution means less for each geographical area?

Sebastian has moved towards more feinherb and dry bottlings, as well as parcelizing the single vineyard offerings, which affected recognizability (lower) and price (higher).

Soil to Soul has gotten to be a really good wine though.
