With chicken breast, broccoli rabe, and quinoa/barley, the 2016 Dauny Sancerre Rose (Pynoz). Fuller styled which worked well with meal, cherry and strawberry, oregano, a little grass. Nice mineral finish. B/B+

Friday the nor’easter hit, wind was howling and the snow was blowing, I was on generator alert (crucial to keep sump pump going), but we never lost power. With steak salad the 2012 Terre di Bo Barolo. So this was a host gift that I stuck aside. I actually thought this was Terre del Barolo (the co-op), just realized later it wasn’t after opening. Light color with enough brown edges that I double-checked the vintage (which is when I realized my misunderstanding). God knows I’d have preferred the co-op wine. Sour cherry, little depth, empty. Aha, a Monsieur Touton selection. C+/C

So I opened the 2013 de Courcel Bourgogne Blanc Ripe melon and pear, a little vanillin oak and honey. Fuller style of Bourgogne, B

While we didn’t lose power, lots of friends did. Saturday I avoided downed trees to make it to work, help a friend start her generator, and go to farmers market for the fish guy. Invited friends and their dog who didn’t have power for dinner.Shucked some oysters, then we had sauteed scallops, broccoli, sweet potatoes, and “winter caprese”.

NV Camille Saves Rose Champagne
Pretty much all one could ask for in NV rose. A melange of red fruits (raspberries, strawberries, cherries) with just a hint of herbs and a solid mineral finish. A friend was DIing this for WAY under US retail, sad to hear he can source no longer. A-

2014 Barat Vaillons Chablis 1er
It really is hard to go wrong with 2014 Chablis. Chalk and oyster shell, green apple fruit with citrus blossom, nice balance and finish. B+

Sunday Betsy had dinner with her cello trio after a concert in city, I made a tofu/tomato stirfry and got out dal from the freezer. The 2011 Drouhin Morgon is in a good place- light tannin, juicy acids, sweet red and black cherry fruit. Light herb notes, good finish, fine bargain. B+/B

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Oh yes, Touton. Source of mediocre wines since...
