Greedy retailer gets boom dropped on New Hampshire shipping

by Robin Garr » Tue May 15, 2018 4:56 pm

Apparently one major retailer got greedy and shipped a ton of product into New Hampshire that's already sold there, including cheap stuff like Yellow Tail, and the state popped its cork (so to speak) and down came the hammer on all shipping to the state whose motto is apparently no longer "Live Free or Die."

It may not be as bad as it sounds, though. Apparently they've found a way to target massive shops flooding the state with wines you can already buy at Walgreens, while keeping the door open to less widely distributed products.

"The New Hampshire Liquor Commission's recent actions restrict large, brick-and-mortar retailers that are abusing the 'direct shipper' designation by shipping name-brand products into NH that are currently carried at our 79 NH Liquor & Wine Outlet locations. This only represents 80 of 1069 permits. The vast majority of wineries shipping to NH [nearly 1000] and their customers will not be affected."

New Hampshire used to be one of those states that employed the convicts in its state prison to manufacture license plates. The prisoners had to spend their days stamping out "Live Free or Die" onto sheet metal. The Mikado would have approved.
