Tasted over two nights, this was quite exuberant, if somewhat unformed on night one. There was plenty of dark cherry fruit, as well as salty/savory elements. In terms of depth and richness it struck the middle ground for D&R wines. It did not show the snappiness of Evanglho or outright weight of Shake Ridge, but did not seem at all lean. On night two that changed, as the wine went into a shell. The fruit receeded into a dense mass with some savory coating on the outside like the monolith from 2001, dipped in olive tapenade. So either drink it all on night one, or wait several years for the wine to come further into its own.
