Let's say you're right handed. You hold the tip of the spear in your left hand, then with your right hand you clamp the peeler up as high as you intend to remove peel from, then pull away to the end of the stalk. Release and repeat. Clamp, peel, clamp, peel. Unlike green asparagus, white asparagus is very brittle and the skin is tougher, requiring removal; you have far less breakage this way than you would with a conventional peeler.

It's not difficult! Btw, it has something that looks like a blade at one end. No idea what that's for, I've never used it.

I graduated to a larger asparagus peeler, but it takes up a lot of space in my kitchen. BTW, the knife-looking end on your peeler is probably just that: a way to cut asparagus to length w/o grabbing another knife.
