Red wine for this Bird?

by Bill Buitenhuys » Fri Apr 21, 2006 7:07 am

Ok, who's next in line for a celebrity wine? I never would have guessed that noted beer-guzzler, spend-thrift, and yes, he played a mean game of hoops, Larry Bird would plaster his name on a wine but he has.

Teamed with Mitch Cosentino, comes the release of 2003 Legends Meritage tm. A CS/Merlot/CF blend from Napa.

A new drink of choice for watching the Final 4? Probably not at $80 a bottle.

My favorite line from the artice "This is a guy who would not know oakey from Charles Oakley"

Bill,
I haven't read the article you linked, but this Legends bottling is also available in Indiana. I wonder if this is a countrywide release or something targeted for Indiana and Boston, two places where Bird has ties??
I'm I'm pretty sure Larry would be more comfortable with a 6 pack of Miller Lite and a pack of cigarettes than an $80 bottle of wine.
BTW, I've seen some Jeff Gordon Chardonnay around these parts and it also has a hefty asking price @ $49.

If so, I'll bet it's here in Louisville, too.
