WTN Thackeray Pleiades XII

by Jenise » Sun May 21, 2006 1:58 pm

A progress report: this wine has suddenly put on weight since our last bottle about six to nine months ago--I almost wouldn't have recognized it. It's got from light-to-medium body to somewhere past medium, and it's developing fuller, richer secondary characteristics. It also showed a bit of an iodine note, which was not unplesant, and more plums and bay leaf. A good drink on the first day but better on the second day.

Any news on Sean Thackeray's plans, post-fire? Geo?

I should give this wine another go. My first experience put me off....

Jim,

IIRC, the wine you bought was the XIII, which was a more structured vintage and didn't show secondary characteristics early the way the XII did. The XIII's going to be gorgeous eventually, but it will take longer. Anyway, knowing your palate as well as I think I do, unless something's changed drastically with you the XII is a wine you'd love and the XIII will eventually be one, too.

Haven't heard anything, Jenise. If we do, Kim or I will chime in.

Thanks for the notes; I'll have to rummage around in the cellar and see if we have any of these left.

They slurped so seductively early on, I would be surprised if you had any left!

So do you think it's time for me to open your generously supplier XIII? I was looking at it last night.

Have you had the X recently? I have one bottle lurking somewhere in the cellar.

Then there's my small stash of Orion, which I can't stand to drink anymore. Too goopy.

Thanks as always, Jenise.
I've heard that XIV is out. Have you tried that yet?
