Dessert wines

I'll keep an eye out for a Philadelphia offline, James. Sounds like a great cast. Philadelphia is one of our favorite cities, and we drive down every month or two.

Ok, what about VTs and SGNs...I have read that VTs could be dry and you wouldn't know it until you opened it.

With regards to Alsace, these are late harvest wines. It depends on the producer. A VT from Zind-Humbrecht or a gewurtztraminer from Weinbach are likely to be sweet enough to be a dessert wine. From someone like Trimbach, it's likely to be only off-dry and not really sweet. SGN's are generally sweet.
