Ian, that is a very good and perceptive question, and frankly, I suspect that it is one that will evolve a bit as we go along.
To make a long story short, I was told through an intermediary about the pending closure of Rogov's forums, and quickly bought into the suggestion that we provide a home for his community. It seemed only fair to do that by keeping his forums essentially intact, with him in charge.
Yes, there's some crossing over with WLDG and FLDG, but we assume that the Rogov forums will be primarily for and about Israeli wine lovers and friends and topics of special interest to them. We hope that they will feel free to come over and participate in WLDG (as many of them have already started to do!), and that WLDGers will feel free to participate in the Rogov forums.
Would a merger of the forums be possible at some future time? That seems like a possibility to me, but certainly no such thing would happen without Rogov's whole-hearted agreement. For now, and as long as he wants it that way, he continues to operate his forums as before, but operates them here.
