Lou, am I to take it that you are a 49'rs fan? I mean com'on, or is it that you are somehow a fan of the nonexistant LA team(s). I mean who is there in La-La land to be a fan of? Go ahead and admit that you secretly pull for the Cowboys. OK, I will admit they need a new owner, so I'll go halfers with you! :)

Bob, I disliked Dallas all the way back to when there was a team called the LA Rams, actually had season tickets. The only word in the english language that equates to Cowboys in my mind is SHANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You just know what that feels like. AARG, AARG, PAIN, SICKENING

Mike, tickets to the Miami (of Ohio) and UK in the house of the Bungles, are available. Spend some money, and go see some real football! :-) I mean, STEELERS? Really? GO COWBOYS!

Help me out here Bob....I'm having trouble remembering the last time the Cowgirls won a playoff game. Was it this century?
Cheers!

Ah, the beauty of this forum, learn something new everyday..wd never have known that MIT had a football team..

Of course , the way my alma mater and our local U have been playing recently, one might question whether they have teams..hint, both wear orange and blue

MY college football team (the Fighting Sagehens) lost every game for the first three years I went to school there. IIRC, we were at the bottom of the "Bottom 10" (a somewhat satirical syndicated news column ranking the worst teams in college football) for an entire year. Can't remember who it was we finally beat during my senior year, but they must have been astoundingly pathetic.

Pomona or Pitzer, Mike? Though HMC nominally had a team when I was there, it was as a grad student at Columbia during their epic 45-game long losing streak in football (it began my first year after a tie with Yale and didn't end until after I'd left with my Ph D 5 years later) that I truly learned the meaning of "bad."

It was Pitzer.

On the plus side, it was one of the very few college football teams that I could have played on as they accepted anyone who'd show up to practice. (I was more interested in ultimate frisbee, though.)

LOL. I played flag football, but that was dorm-based. And played ultimate, too, as it happened.

Perhaps to shift this thread back to wine......the only thing I truly know about football (or for that matter horse racing) is that such games are great places at which to drink Champagne. Ideally of course, sitting in the box of one of the club owners ...

Or in the parking lot prior to (or after) the Harvard-Yale game.

Champagne is good when your team wins the Super Bowl which is why Mike must be an expert as a Steelers fan!

(I hope Rogov didn't think he could derail the football aspect of this tread! )

Or a Bills-Patriots game.

Mike Steinberger: "Sure, Didier Dagueneau makes toothsome Pouilly-Fumés."

Didier Dagueneau, unfortunately, doesn't make anything anymore. I don't understand Steinberger's use of the present tense. Either he doesn't know grammar or he doesn't know Pouilly-Fumé - more probably the latter.

Victor - before you engage your inner pedant you might want to check the date on the referenced article: 2006.
