WTN: Riesling

It's summer. Time for lighter wines. This dinner was with visiting family and we bought fresh haddock filets. I picked a riesling kabinett.

Pale yellow in color. Expressive nose of melons and peaches with a hint of petrol. Gorgeous juicy ripe fruit (peaches and lemons) with just enough mouth-watering acidity to balance on the midpalate. Long finish of sweet acidic melon fruit. Considerable residual sugar in this wine. It borders on spatlese in my opinion.

Nice match with panfried haddock coated with panko. I sprinkled my fish with fresh cut lemon juice which really enhanced the match with the wine. Brings out the lemon fruit in the wine. :)

Wine: 2004 riesling kabinett. Schloss Schonborn Hattenheimer Pfaffenberg. 9.5 % abv. AP No. 31 052 008 05
