WTN: 2002 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Les Chouacheux

2002 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Les Chouacheux - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru (8/11/2007)
Tasted from half bottle this is evolving nicely. It's light bodied, but shows good red and black fruit, some earth and is beginning to develop some secondary nuances. Should be a pleasant accompaniment to meals in another couple of years. Right now it's kind of an in-between stage.

Seems as though the '02s in general are not in a good spot right now. How did Jadot do in 2000?

The only 2000 Jadot wines I have had are the Beaune Ursules & GC CSJ. I liked them both for current drinking (tasted in early 2007).

David,

Thanks for the note.

I've tried this label/producer from several earlier vintages dating back to 1990 and have somewhat of a soft spot for it. From my experiences, it consistently puts on weight, building substantial complexity in the bottle and usually starts drinking very well from about 8-10 years of age after vintage. In fact, many of Jadot's wines mostly seem to look a little thin, lacklustre and seemingly acidic in their youth. Something that may turn some people off, but given sufficient time in the bottle, look much, much better for those who can keep their hands off them.
Cheers,

David

David,

I still have one bottle of the 2000 Jadot Ursules. The one that we drank last fall was quite good. I don't think it will improve too much. My favorite Ursules was that 1998. We had a half case and it kept improving until we drank the last one last summer. I may be underestimating the potential of the 2000 as well.

The only '00 Jadot I have is the CSJ, but going to hold those for a few more years. The '95 CJS from last fall was still young.

I do have some '91 Jadots that I hope to raid this fall.

OT--David B. what's with all the eBob bashing?
