2006 Domaine du Vieux Chene, "Cuvee Friande" Rose

Paired with chiken, rice and home grown tomatoes for dining on the deck on a warm summer evening.

I have tried this wine in a few previous vintages and wasn't all that impressed...dirty dishwater is a descriptor that comes to mind, so you can probably understand my reluctance when the 2006 version came highly recommended by the chap at the local shoppe. IIRC the price was in the $10-12 range so I went along with his suggestion and was glad I did.

Bone dry, crisp/refreshing notes of strawberry, watermelon and raspberry along with one of the longest finishes I have experienced in a rose. A delightful sip made from 100% Grenache. I'll be buying a couple more to get me through the summer.
