WTN: Absolutely "Pretty" 2005 Rully White Burgundy

by Brian K Miller » Sun Sep 02, 2007 2:31 am

What a lovely, lovely wine. My friends invited me over to dinner, so I asked my favorite wine shop ownere what would go with Grilled Halibut. We are going through a nasty heat wave right now, so red was really not a choice, anyway.

2005 Deux Montille Soeur & Frere (of Mondovino fame :) ) Rully.

What a beautiful village-level White Burgundy! As I opened the bottle and .....sniffed...I knew it would be nice!

Lovely light yellow color, it really glows in the glass! Some nice aromas of citrus and pear, which appear nicely on the palette as well. This wine just feels so light and lovely, it dances on the palette. Great acidity and even some minerality for a village wine. Still, this wine is about the fruit, but it's lovely fruit, so who cares?! I think there is a little oak to give it a touch, just a touch, of creaminess on the finish. It's not inexpensive (at mid $20s), but it's not overpriced at all. We all agreed wine of the night!

Solid 4*+. A truly lovely chardonnay!!!!

Everything seems to be nicely balanced Brian. The Open Mike: Chardonnay has resulted in a few wines such as this one. Limited choice up here so thanks for the note.
