Abruzzo.
Moderate cherry red color.
Smoke, earth and leather on the nose.
Earthy, very leathery, cherry fruit, good tangy acidity, some bitterness, with a moderately annoying dirty (as opposed to earthy) streak developing with time. Granted, this wine could be a bit smoother and a tad more polished, but this is a great buy if you are looking for a rustic red. This is the sort of wine I would expect to pour from an unlabelled earthenware jug at a sidewalk cafe in Italy.
Loads of leather on the finish.
Purchased for the ridiculouslly low (for Ontario anyway) price of $7.15 (Canadian).
