Display Shelf in Eurocave or other wine cellar

I bought a Eurocave recently and paid the $60 for a display shelf. Odd thing is... this shelf is pretty and displays my finer bottles in my collection, but with them sitting upright (at a bit of an angle) I'm wondering if the cork is not staying moist enough to properly store the wine.

Anyone have a similar wine cabinet or cellar, and do you advise against using the display shelf?

A friend of mine uses the display shelf but with the bottles upside down. I'd worry about the dry cork myself, although I don't have a Eurocave.

Depends how to define short-term. I expect 3-4 of the bottles that I'd like to display on the shelf to be around for 3 or more years. I'm thinking just to prop up the shelf when I have guest over to show off these bottles rather than have it always displayed.
