I don't drink Gallo wines anyway. You'd think she would try to hook up with someone a little more upscale. :?:

I'll pass on the opportunity for snide, but would note that Gallo is only dipping a toe gently into these troubled waters. A limited first release of 15,000 cases, offered only in Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Denver, Phoenix and Portland, Ore.

An odd mix of cities, yet Gallo does nothing without a sound commercial reason. I wonder what prompted the choice of those particular markets.

It's likely they relate to Martha Stewart's success with her brand name in those markets.

I am a retailer here in Portland and my Gallo rep has not mentioned this. It will be interesting to taste it.

Robert, you probably drink more Gallo than you realize like most of the rest of us. It used to be that you looked for that telltale "Modesto" word on the label, but no longer. Their interests are now worldwide, and a long way bad overall.

Try a Gallo Sonoma Barrelli Creek Cab, and see what is possible even from Goliath.

Cheers, Carl

Gallo winery is probably the world's most efficient and certainly the most consistent. It has also spawned great wine marketers as well as great winemakers.

Carl, you beat me to it! I suspect that a lot of us on this forum drink more Gallo wine that is realized. Beside that, if all one needs is something to go with burgers and dogs from the grill, or meatloaf from the oven, some of the Gallo wines will do the trick, and quite nicely too. Now if those who disapprove of Gallo for their fortified low end skid row wines want to boycott them then then power to them.

Victor, I will long remember the cases of 1978 Gallo North Coast cabernet that I drank. I think it was like $4.00 per bottle before case discount. Gallo made or still makes a high end cabernet that carries their label too. I think they call it Northern Sonoma. The 92 was released at or around $55-65 per bottle, and I paid about $35. I still have one of those, and if anyone is coming through Lexington, Give a yell and I will pull bark on it.
