Unbelievable!! ........

Being able to manipulate the number of views is a bit of a worry though. What else can the "green" people do? Read our PM's? I know this happened on another board using exactly the same phpBB software.

I think this particular site is pretty safe from prying eyes (on our end I mean), but hacking is always possible and in that case, all bets are off.

In regards to the calibre of person controlling this board, I would have to agree with you. But, as you suggest, there's always that smidge of paranoia when such privacy issues are mentioned.

David, just to re-emphasize and expand a bit on what Randy said, this question really has two overlapping answers:

1. Indeed, anything one types on a computer, and certainly anything one types on the Internet, is subject to being read by other people. The only absolutely sure way to keep your words private is to avoid uttering them (or typing them into a computer connected to the Internet, anyway), in the first place.

2. That being said, you don't have to worry about anyone here casually perusing private messages for prurient (or any other) interest. Just so you'll know, although the admins obviously have access to the computer servers that house the forum's contents, there is no simple way to read PMs (or any other content). It's not as if we had a "control panel" where we could click and read. It would involve a geeky process of logging in to the WLP web servers directly and undertaking a complicated series of commands and lists. Moreover, the PMs may very well be encrypted, as your passwords are. Frankly, I've never looked.

Only RR and I have such access. We're both committed not to use it, by virtue of common sense, ethics and the right thing to do, not to mention a serious lack of interest in wasting our time.

But the short and simple answer is this: If you're about to type anything that you feel could embarrass you into any computer, anywhere, think twice. Once it's online, it's certainly possible that someone, somewhere, might find it some day.

But it won't be us. We respect your privacy ... but also suggest that, if one cares, then it's prudent to be careful, here and everywhere.

'nuff said?

With whom are you in trouble David?
Yes, and how many deaths will it take 'til he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Silly boy, what makes you think that it's a winery? My bet is that it's Randy's backyard.

Just wondering which Bordeaux property entrusts its harvest to people who seem more concered with the camera and fashion than the grapes..

A scandal in the making I tell you!
