Dry Creek Vineyard Beeson Ranch Zin 2002
(Zin haters may exit here)
14.5% alcohol 90% Zin, 10% Petite Sirah
The first two bottles were bought at the tasting room in 10/05. The third was a club shipment in 8/05.

1/06 Nice lightweight Zin.
5/06 Strange. It started soft and a bit bright, but after half an hour, tannins came to the front and it seemed like one of those overwrought things. It got better again later.
9/07 Tannic! Acid in balance. Some green taste that reminds me of Cabernet (either Franc or Sauvignon). Lots of blackberry/raspberry.

Strange that 3 bottles should strike me so differently.
Tonight's bottle was opened straight from the cellar. The other two sat at room temperature for an hour and a half or so. I'm not a decanting person.
I find it a bit odd that it seems the tannins are becoming more prominent with age, rather than less.

For a $30 MSRP Zin, it's no bargain. Yet it's a well balanced, drinkable, not overripe bottle.
