Thought for the day (wine and women)

by AlexR » Thu Oct 04, 2007 2:46 am

There was an article in the newspaper about the retirement of Jean-Claude Berrouet, winemaker at the Jean-Pierre Moueix estates, and responsible for turning out the past 44 vintages of Pétrus:

In speaking about a widespread taste in wine today he is quoted as saying:
"Aujourd'hui ce sont toujours les femmes aux poitrines opulentes qui gagnent alors que ce ne sont pas forcément les plus belles".
(Nowadays, it's always the women with big busts who win, whereas they are not necessarily the most beautiful).

Jean-Claude Berrouet will be missed because he is not only extremely competent, but also a polite and friendly guy, in no way snobbish despite the rarefied world he lived in.

Best regards,
Alex R.
