Tonight I opened up a nice dry Oloroso with some aged cheeses.
M. Gil Luque Oloroso "De Bandera" VORS
19,5% abv; 62,20€. Brown/orange with greenish hints. The nose is a little bit caramelly, dark toned and with hints of rye bread but also with citrussyness (or orange since the word "citrus" seemed to provoke some negative responses last time) and lift. The nose seems to promise a touch of sweetness, which (gladly, as I like dry Olorosos) isn't fulfilled on the palate. It is full-bodied, mouth watering, pleasantly acidic and oxidised, balanced and endless. Very nice, but still IMO overpriced over here.
Here is my note for the "de Bandera" Amontillado. I see very few references to this Bodega - can someone supply me with more information? And how do the Sherry aficionados here like the property?
