I almost voted for Chenin Blanc but it is hard to call it underated in the "WLDG Forum Group" since it is in most of our cellars and frequently heralded. The same for Riesling as it may wine the "best white food wine" award if there was such a thing. SOOOOOO, my vote goes to Rousanne a white wine I love and a white wine whenever I serve it gets many thumbs up.

Although I voted Pinotage (other), I would say that many grapes are underrated, if only because certain specific ones are overhyped. I have had many worthy wines from grapes that rarely make the press (pun not intended, but it works in a dualistic kind of way). The spotlight tends to be only so wide, and so naturally it can't shine on all varieties simultaneously. That's not always a bad thing, since hype tends to bring its own set of not-always-desirable results.
