What a wine. This is the 3rd or 4th bottle I've had from this vintage and It's been astonishing every time (Nikolaihof may be one of the most age worthy producers of white wine on the planet, but I cannot help myself.) The 'hefig' is at once apparent upon twisting off the top and only gets more powerful in the glass. The fruit is of apples and pears with pineapple, but the wine is so intricately textured that the fruit flavors themselves are blurred by it. There is a pea, spinach and mint burst, as well as that ever-present leesy, savory sourdough note. The acidity is tame and contoured, but the wine is still spunky. I promise not to open any more for a very long time (I'M A LIAR!!!). 12% alc. $26
