2001 Weingut Josef Leitz Rüdesheimer Klosterlay Riesling QbA - Germany, Rheingau (10/24/2007)
Just checking in on this wine, and it seems to be mostly ready to go. While there's not much in the way of smokiness or creaminess, there is impressive cut and high-toned fruit, as well as a firm mineral base. Showing all the Riesling class that can ever be expected from a "mere QbA." Refreshing and revitalizing, and another example of how the 2001 vintage gave classic wines that will stand the test of time. This wine has several years to go before it heads for the downward slope.
