2006 Terre Rouge Vin Gris d’Amador (Sierra Foothills). It came in their Fall Sampler, and is the first we’ve had in a few years. It is now $15; 51% Mourvedre, 43% Grenache, & 6% Syrah; 13.5% alcohol; 3.30 pH; and 6.9 gm acid per liter (i.e. crisp).
It gives you gobs of strawberries on the nose and upfront. More fruit, some perceivable spiciness and the afore mentioned crispness entertain the palate; and the finish lingers nicely.
Matched it with grillpanned ham steak lathered with a butter, honey, horseradish, Worcestershire lather; roasted baby Yukons, and sliced Brandywine tomatoes.
