Notes from Sunday lunch for my Dad's birthday.

Curatolo Nero d'Avola 2003 - From Sicily. Medium bodied with lots of acidity. Decent fruit. Tea-like tannins and a bitter Campari finish. Seemed disjointed and slightly unbalanced. Maybe a bit more time will improve it but, while drinkable now, it's just OK.

Chateau Bouscasse Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh October Harvest 2004 - Gold. Not much on the nose. Flavors of pineapple and peach. Simple and short.

Rarely have I found Pacherenc to be of much interest (I did taste an older D’Aydie that aged well). I tend to stick to Jurançon for my LH Sud-Ouest adventures (LOVE Domaine Cauhape). Even the Octobre bottlings from the latter can be rather simple.
