Raveneau 2001

Anyone tasted any of Raveneau's 2001s yet?

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

I had the 2001 Montmains (they spell it differently though don't they) in 2006, and while I thought it was good it did not blow me away. There was a little too much smokiness for the fruit for my palate.

Thanks! Did you think it needed more bottle age?

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

I would say so - I'm not well versed in the aging curve of Raveneau though. I've only bought a few in recent vintages, and so have little feel for what might happen down the road.
