I double decanted this almost inky black beverage for about 2 hours. 60% Syrah/40% Mourvedre. Just the slightest blackberry fruit and Mourvedre animale poke through on the nose which is marked with redcuced, burnt tire aromas (FWIW, I'm not particularly adverse to reduced notes in my wine). The burnt rubber seemed to blow off over time, but the fruit remains hidden. I suspected I was opening this a few years too early and expected tannins and oak might still be in control. Neither were.
Shut down/bad bottle? Your guess is as good as mine, but I'm keeping my hands off my remaining 3 bottles for at least a couple more years.
