So easy to drink...

by John Treder » Thu Nov 15, 2007 11:54 pm

I just finished a bottle of David Coffaro Estate Zin 2002 tonight. One comment I put in was, "So easy to drink that I tend to forget about analysis."
Do others here have that reaction sometimes?

BTW, here's my whole note:
Becoming a bit less opaque at the rim, showing a dark Cabernet-like purple, but still inky purple in the middle. Very, very smooth, medium length. So easy to drink that I tend to forget about analysis. Showing a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg – spice – the second night. Longer.

It's 83% Zin, 8% Cab Sauv, 6% Carignane, 3% Petite Syrah. I suspect the Cab began to show.

For $13.25, what's not to like?

Yep! Theer's a few wines that do that to me. They are my most cherished wine experiences, and the ones that are actually the most frustrating in trying to share as there's no way to put simple happiness in a note.

I have thought about it. We don't have quite the range of emoticons I need though. This is one area where I like the eBob board - there's lots of good emoticons.

I am especially fond of the one for beating a dead horse. It's rather useful.

Always. If I really like the wine I personally find it both difficult and distracting to try to analyze. The ones I find myself "analyzing" are the ones I don't really like all that much and what I am really trying to figure out why I don't like it (assuming it isn't obviously flawed). I know it is hedonistic and selfish but I try as often as possible to simply let the the mystical wine experience sort of wash over me. Notes, analysis identification of undertastes seem to just distract me.

You make me feel MUCH better!
I also have this engineering mind which favors terseness. I'd never be able to enter a Bulwer-Lytton contest, and many tasting notes make me think "it was a dark and stormy night".... :D
